Marie’s colour set (mini set)

Marie’s colours are widely used in Chinese silk or paper paintings. They are all water based pigments mixed with Alum. This is very common adding to the pigment to make sure the colour will stayed on after it dry.  Because the finished Xuan paintings will backed onto a harder Xuan involves re-wetting the painting with water. Marie colour set is the first produce to mix with Alum into the colour tube.

Before, all artist needs to add liquid Alum into the colour mixed to be sure the colour will stay onto the Xuan.
