Lord Guan (Guan Di) – in English generally known as God of Justice. He became a general in the Han Dynasty (approx. 200 B.C.). One of the ‘three brothers of the Peach Orchard’ in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, he raised armies and suppressed rebellions. Even after his death, he exerted a powerful influence for the good of the nation and the protection of the country. His image is placed in the first halls of Buddhist monasteries. He has also been accepted as patron saint of various trades and professions, including money-making enterprises (making him a kind of God of Wealth) and also a God of Literature.
